We all have heard this before, drinking soda is bad for you and it will rot your teeth. But, yet, we all seem to still drink it, some more frequently than others. So why is it, that we continue this bad habit? For those of you who drink soda you may want to listen up to this,
California adults who drink a soda or more a day are 27 percent more likely to be overweight or obese, regardless of income or ethnicity.
A child’s risk for obesity increases an average of 60 percent with every additional daily serving of soda.
The average American consumes 50 gallons of soda or other sweetened beverages each year, adding the equivalent of 39 pounds of sugar to their diet.
These statistic come from the article, Soda and other sugar-sweetend beverages linked to obesity, which covers the latest landmark hearings. The article is brief, but Dr. Harold, from the Goldstein of the California Center for Public Health Advocacy (CCPHA), does point out, “The problem is we drink soda like it’s water, but it’s not – the average 20 ounce soda delivers a whopping 17 teaspoons of sugar. ” That is a lot of sugar.

On Sunday, October 25th, there will be a rally and concert in
Courthouse Square, Santa Rosa, to bring attention to the need for
healthcare reform in America. And we’re inviting everyone to dress up
as zombies.

NOON to 1PM – Converge on Courthouse Square, Santa Rosa, dressed as
zombies. Wave our signs. Dance. Make a ruckus.
People are encouraged to bring funny and thought-provoking protest
signs, like “Being Undead is a Pre-Existing Condition”. Groan and be
brain-craving at the passing traffic.
1:00PM – March/shuffle/horde around a circuit of downtown, with
chanting, groaning, and surprised citizenry. (on sidewalks, following
traffic laws, please) And back to Courthouse Square. We will be
accompanied by HUBBUB CLUB, an alternative marching band.
2:00 to 5:30PM – Bands, informative comedy skits, radical
cheerleaders, Thriller dancing, and other surprise awesomeness.
Friday night, October 16, the bodies were definitely on the floor and fans were going crazy as Framing Hanley rocked the stage at the Last Day Saloon. Framing Hanley, headliner for the show, shared the stage with The Veer Union, Transmit Now, and Janus who were all part of the $10 rock concert series from 101.7 The Fox.
The place was packed with fans as each band came out and rocked the stage. Fans couldn’t get enough. If things couldn’t get any crazier, Framing Hanley ended the show with their smash hit, Lollipop. Everyone went crazy.
On top of a great show their were three birthdays in the house so the bands came out and helped them celebrate like true rock star would.
Be sure to check out our interview with Framing Hanley’s lead vocalist Kenneth Nixon [we will be posting it soon on our website]. In the mean time check out Framing Hanley on their website.
